Learning Experience Designer
This role is currently expected to start in Jan 2025, run through into March (likely extendable). Estimated full-time weekly hours, but ultimately this will be determined by our client!
Come and build scalable, authentic learning experiences that will shape the next generation of engineers and project managers for our client. We are looking for a Learning Experience Designer (continuous learning & development) to join the Learning Experience and Technology (LExT) team.
The Learning Experience Designer will be responsible for designing and developing engaging and immersive learning experiences that meet or exceed learner objectives.
A key skillset we are seeking for this role, is expertise as a technical writer.
The successful candidate will have a passion for learning design, a creative mindset, and a deep understanding of adult learning principles. He or she will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in instructional design or a related field, with a strong track record of creating impactful learning experiences.
Key Responsibilities
• Collaborate with subject matter experts and project stakeholders to identify learning objectives and performance goals.
• Conduct needs analysis and learning assessments to identify performance gaps and recommend learning solutions.
• Design and develop learning solutions, including technical documentation, job-aids, reference materials, e-learning courses, instructor-led training materials, videos, simulations, and other interactive content.
• Design and develop skills-based learning programs that align with the organization's goals and objectives.
• Apply instructional design principles to create engaging and interactive learning experiences.
• Evaluate the effectiveness of solutions through assessments, feedback, and metrics, and make necessary adjustments for continuous improvement.
• Ensure learning solutions are aligned with the overall learning strategy and business objectives.
• Develop and manage project timelines to ensure timely and successful delivery of learning solutions.
• Conduct quality assurance checks to ensure the accuracy, consistency, and effectiveness of learning materials.
• Conduct thorough research on industry trends and best practices in learning experience design to ensure the development of cutting-edge and impactful learning programs.
• Provide guidance and support to other LXDs on instructional design methodologies, learning experience best practices, and emerging trends in the field.
Required qualifications
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience with Graphics / Photo imaging / Video software (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premiere Pro, Visio, etc.), Articulate 360, Microsoft SharePoint etc. with prior experience in using or launching Learning Management Systems is a plus.
• Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and instructional design models.
• Experience in evaluating the effectiveness of learning solutions and making data-driven improvements.
• Strong project management and organizational skills.
• Experience with Cornerstone (LMS) and Xyleme (LCMS).
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
• Attention to detail and a commitment to delivering high-quality learning solutions.
• Knowledge of emerging technologies and their application in learning design is a plus.
Preferred qualifications
• Master’s Degree in Instructional Design, Education Technology, or similar field.
• Industry certifications in instructional design, curriculum development, performance improvement, project management, and content-specific certifications.
• Able to write effective instructional texts and scripts.
• Ability to communicate effectively in a professional and cordial manner through oral, written, and visual communications with others at all levels in the company.
